July
18, 2008
Hi, Y'all!
Once
again our
Fourth of July
Celebration
capped off with a brilliant
fireworks display, thanks to
Mark
(who, as you know, doesn't like any
downtime between bursts),
Jason & Chuck. There were
even such remarks as the sky was lit up
better than the displays in the Dallas/
Ft.Worth area. This year they started at
both ends of about a 100 ft. length,
lighting one right after the other.
Simply breathtaking! Many thanks go to
the Desdemona
Fire Department for being
within reach in case of a fire.
I
do believe it was the largest crowd ever
for the weekend extravaganza. The dining
room simply couldn’t hold them all! The
food, as always, was out of this world
and sooooooooo good. Oh, and what about
all the hard work
Kenny, Wayne and Sam did
cooking and cleaning up afterwards. A
big 3 CHEERS
for those guys. We might add a really
big cheer for
Sam and Jason getting the
air-conditioning in the building too!!!
Which
brings up all the preparation that goes
into preparing for such a week-end.
Jason and Chuck
helped Sam and
Tim with all the mowing and
getting the grounds ready for everyone
to have a really good time. The American
flags lining the drive way up to the
camp grounds looked great. Another big
thank you to
Tim and Tony for putting up
the red, white and blue decorations, and
to Ron and Gary
for giving Mark
a red, white & blue floatie to blow up
in hopes it would keep him out of
trouble!!! (NOT!!) He does not
take bribes,
Ron (heehee) … nor does he
play (too much) on the internet!
Before I
forget, the
Community Center of Desdemona
was overwhelmingly grateful for all the
donations from our guests that attended
their First Saturday Breakfast. The
money they receive helps with the upkeep
of the building, supplies, etc. Several
of the ladies commented how comfortable
they were made to feel at Crossroads.
Holidays are sometimes just that ... a
time to be spent with Family.

Kenny.
Wrinkles,
the deer, might have had an overload of
cookies!!!
Just one hit for
Randy was ALL it took (hehehee).
Mike and Jim
need a Big Thanks for their wild
Cocktail party. And another Big Thank
You goes out to
Jim and AJ for a Great
White Russian Party.
We must not forget the wonderful
entertainment of the “fluffy, not fatty”
Waitresses
as they served drinks and danced and
bounced to the oldies!!! I think the
joke may have been on
Mark and Jim,
though, as those big suits are not as
fun to wear as they are at getting
laughs, as the two guys had to almost
peel out of those suits.
We hope
you can join us the
Weekend of
August 2nd for our
Bar-B-Q & Pool
Party ... details will be
posted soon on our website. Better make
your plans for
Labor Day Weekend as soon as
you can. We’re already preparing for it
to be extra special and labor-free for
our guests. We look forward to seeing
you other weekends too!
Mark
ends this Newsletter with a
